Short Sales: The Mortgage Forgiveness Debt Relief Act was extended through 2016 so that mortgage borrowers do not pay income tax on the forgiven debt from a short sale of their home. A New Way To Keep Homes Out of Probate: Assembly Bill 139, effective January 2016-2021, creates the revocable Transfer on Death (TOD) Deed which is a new way for homeowners to transfer interest in real property to a named beneficiary upon the owner’s death without a probate proceeding. Applies only to:
- Residential Real Estate of 1-4 units,
- Single Tract Agricultural Land (40 acres or less) improved with a single family residence.

- Marin County – 4,40
- Mendocino – 1,000
- Napa – 2,400
- Sonoma 8,900

In terms of incentives & rebates, the best option through 2019 is a 30% federal tax credit on the cost of your system.
The industry is moving towards improving the battery storage systems, especially since Tesla founder, Elon Musk, has taken on the challenge. Ali says over the next 5 years battery storage systems will be less expensive while providing better products!
