Election Day is Coming!
The Consolidated Primary Election day when we will be voting to fill 6 local and state offices including U.S. Senator, U.S. Rep in Congress, State Senator, Member of Assembly, Judge of the Superior Court and County Supervisor. And of course, that’s the Presidential Primary day too!
Here is where you can find what the ballot measures on that day will be.
The last day to register to vote is May 23.
An ongoing and unresolved issue
The most recent decision from the Santa Rosa City Council is a rent increase moratorium that bars landlords for 45 days from raising rents more than 3% on apartments built before February 1995.

…will soon be the new face on the $20 dollar bill!
The most significant change to our currency since 1929 and how times have changed that a black woman, former slave, can make it to the face of our money!
I’d like to take this time to remember this remarkable woman and re-tell just a bit of her story of courage and freedom. A woman far beyond her time with such an immense capacity that is ever so inspiring!
Harriet was born into slavery, in about 1820, who escaped and committed her life to helping others escape and fight injustice. She was active in the women’s suffrage movement and the Civil War as a cook and nurse who eventually became a scout and spy. She then became the first woman to lead an armed expedition in the war, guiding the Combahee River Raid which liberated more than 700 slaves in South Carolina. In her later years, she bought a piece of land from abolitionist Senator William Seward near Auburn, NY. This place became a haven for her family and friends and eventually a “Home for the Aged”.
Harriet’s story can continue to inspire new generations as her face will soon be far more visible.
Thank you Harriet!
