I hope this finds you well and with a fine start to 2016! I’ve been wanting to do a newsletter for quite some time, so finally, here it is.
This is a compilation of little bits but I’m particularly excited to share a personal creative project that features short and inspiring stories from local folks called
“People I Know & Like”.
Policy Updates in Sonoma County:

Rent Control: Boy, this is a big conversation these days! The City of Santa Rosa is reviewing the possibility of some version of rent control. The latest proposal was rejected and it was determined more information is needed before making a decision so stay tuned… Healdsburg is looking at creative options for keeping their lower income resident with a place to live.
She may be a familiar face as Trishia has been around West County for a long time, particularly in the culinary world.
Lucky for us, her baking prowess comes to fruition at The Whole Pie in Santa Rosa, opening in the coming weeks and serving the most amazing hand pies I’ve ever had! Sweet, Savory, and a few in between, in various shapes & sizes. Frozen for take out or stay and enjoy with a pint or a glass of wine.
She shares with me the story of her grandmother, Virginia Wilcox, who has shaped her in many wonderful ways….
“My grandmother was a strong, bright and well traveled woman. Virginia was a Home-Ec teacher back when they taught girls how to set a table, write thank you notes, sew buttons and every 13 year old girl learned how to prepare a family supper. There was a prolific Gravenstein tree in her backyard; she would send me out to pick the fallen apples…the freezer was always full of apple pies and they were shared generously. Her secret to her amazing crust is quit thinking about it! The more you think about it, the worse it comes out!
When you’re in the neighborhood of 4th & Farmers, make sure to stop by and meet this witty, charismatic and fun woman.
